Drums
In Klingel and Noved's book, Drums, level 1 readers are introduced to many different types of drums from different cultures in a very accessible manner. The book starts with an onomatopoeia--characterizing the percussive nature of said instruments--and touches also on the many different ways to play drums, whether that be hands, feet, or mallets. I believe that by combining onomatopoeias and examples of drums from different cultures, the book effectively opens up young readers to various percussion instruments in an mind-opening and effective way while still remaining fairly accessible in vocabulary choice. The book also contains a word bank, which could be a helpful teaching device when working with young children. --Simon Tiffin
