Strings is a a picture book written by Wendy Lynch. This book touches on the different settings and contexts that different types of string instruments are used in from orchestral to rock settings. It begins by talking about how music is such a social experience and about what instruments tend to go well together. This is followed up by an explanation of how the different string instruments actually produce a sound. A few examples of famous string musicians are given as reference for older readers to potentially research on their own. This book is a great read for general string instrument knowledge: how to produce a sound, different types of string instruments, and contexts for which these various instruments can be found. The organized structure including a helpful glossary for readers makes this book a very good choice for introducing the string instrument family to children.
