TEXTURE is an introductory art book that focuses on the element of art...texture. A line named Loopi narrates the book for the readers and offers explanations of different textures found in drawings, paintings, metal, sculptures, nature, and fabrics. Texture, as described in the book, is the visual and tactile element on surfaces of various types of art. Textures can be smooth, rough, bumpy, furry, soft, and more. And textures can be achieved by mark making like dashes, hatches, dots, lines, patterned marks, painting with brush strokes, weaving, pressing, and much more. The picture book does a great job identifying texture from both two dimensional and three dimensional references. This is a useful learning tool for elementary school as it clearly defines a visual arts element and gives examples that are easy to understand.
