Quinten Breach - Elvis: The King

Considered one of the most famous pop artists of the 50’s and 60’s, Elvis Presley revolutionized the art of his day that was considered music. In the novel by Katherine Krohn (and quite possibly considered common knowledge to the people of the era), she describes that many television producers were quite timid on inviting Presley to appear on the various networks because of his appearance: “jet black hair, good looks, daring costumes and wild concerts” (Krohn, pg. 8). In all, the idea of the book is to not only promote the life and musical career of Elvis but to also remind students that creating and defining their own future/path is what should be encouraged in the classroom, musical or not. As educators (and possible parents/guardians), we should be the main instigators in this thought process of success.
