Mari Elias- Fab Four Friends: The Boys Who Became The Beatles
This book about the Beatles, written by Susanna, is a picture book that goes through how each of the boys' childhoods and eventually how they all got to meet and form a band. It starts off by talking about John's home life and how he was first introduced to music when his mother had bought him a guitar. One by one the boys began to meet each other and wanted to start a band since they were all musicians and then goes into how they finally got their big break. In the very back of the book there is a glossary with a few musical terms and British slang terms children in America might not be familiar with. This is another good example of a biographical book that goes through the life of famous musicians, especially ones that students might know. I would love to incorporate learning about different musicians from different genres in my classroom so my students not only know the theory behind music and how to play it, but also some history behind it as well.
