“Benny Goodman & Teddy Wilson” is by Lesa Cline-Ransome. The story starts out with us meeting Benny Goodman as a kid and it talks about how each of him and his brothers got an instrument as a kid. The book goes on to then talk about Teddy and how him and his brother also received instruments as a kid. Next the book talks about how both of them would practice a lot and that once they both started performing it was super fun. The book goes on to talking about how they both became famous musicians and met in Forest Hills, NY. As soon as they met they wanted to work together so the recorded together! After this they performed together as part of the first black and white jazz band around. People loved the concert and danced all night to their amazing swing music. This book is good for children because it throws out a lot of vocabulary that you can teach kids, such as all the instrument names, treble and bass clef, swing, and a few others. This book is also great for kids because while the story is going on it gives places and dates for the events going on which also gives the historical side of the music.
