“Old MacNoah Had an Ark” is by Jill Newton and is a spin on Old McDonald had a farm. First off I think that using a tune kids already know is an amazing way to get kids interested because they will already know the tune so they are more likely to sing along or make a reference. It first starts off with MacNoah building his ark. then he adds his animals, two cows, ducks, pigs, monkeys, etc. After this it starts to rain! They sing about their adventures for a few pages and then final see dry land. The unload the ark and everyone is happy to be safe and all the animals play around. This is good for kids because it refers to tune they already know so they are more likely to be interested. Also it gets them singing while you are reading instead of just listening to you read.
