Emily Dahowski- Made in Mexico

Made in Mexico by Peter Lauffer and Susan L. Roth is an interesting book that teaches young musicians about the guitars made in Mexico.  Mariachi bands are very popular in Mexico but the authors want the readers to know that there is more than just Mariachi music in Mexico.  Guitars are seen on multiple stages in Mexico and the authors describe how each guitar is delicately made by hand in the workshops in Mexico.  The authors also give geographical evidence of where each different type of music is from in Mexico and how they all relate to one another.  The authors sole purpose of this children's book is to show that Mexican music is more than just Mariachi music which is very important.  I would this book to in a elementary general music class during a world music unit.
