Drummer Boy by Loren Long is a book set around Christmas time about a boy who gets a toy drummer boy as an early Christmas present. The story continues as the drummer boy gets lost. The drummer boy goes to the city dump, in a hawk's nest, in the snow, on a bell tower, and eventually back home. Everywhere he goes, the drummer boy plays his drum and gives everyone peace. Whenever the drummer boy plays his drum, there are sounds words in groups of five, teaching kids about mixed meter. It also teaches children that music can bring peace among people.
