Phoebe Nah- Nightsong

Nightsong is a book about a young bat named Chiro who was to fly out into the world at night on his own for the first time. However, Chiro was afraid of the dark, and expressed his fears to his mother. She reassured him saying that if he sang out into the world, the world would sing back to him and give him the vision he needed to see what was beyond his cave. Chiro was hesitant at first, but once he started to sing out, he saw the wonders of life outside of his home He flew farther and farther experiencing the world and taking it all in. Finally he decided it was time to go home and began to sing out until he heard familiar sounds singing back. When he was reunited with his mother, Chiro told his mother of all the things he had seen and how he had overcome his fear of the dark. This story teaches children that the world is a wonderful place if they can overcome their fears of it and that there are many new experiences to be had.
