Ian Marcusiu: "Clang" Went the Cymbals
"Clang" Went the Cymbals is an onomatopoeia alphabet book written by Dana Hall Jordan and illustrated by Burma Willingham. This is a great book to help young children with phonics. The book is filled with animal noises and everyday sound effects that children will have had prior knowledge of before reading. The accurate onomatopoeias combined with the vibrant drawings create a wonderful way for beginning readers to correlate letters and words with their respective sounds. Not only are there actual instruments and their onomatopoeic sounds in this book, but the concept of onomatopoeias in general is a great way to introduce children to different instruments and their families by the way they sound.
