Art Around the World is about a boy and his dog traveling to different parts of the world and learning about different forms of art. The book provides a playful exploration and study of art for children. It gives readers historical context and tutorials on how to replicate works of art for personal projects. The book also prompts the projects using everyday objects or easy to obtain objects in order to imitate the techniques used throughout the world. From weaving textiles in Mexico, block prints in India, to Peruvian burial masks—the story allows children interested in art to personalize their own projects. This is especially useful for elementary art education because the projects are simple, straightforward, and cost efficient. Although the techniques in the book can be manipulated with more complex materials to be effective in middle school or even high school.
