Alison LeBeda - What is Punk?
What is Punk? is a children's book by Eric Morse about the foundations of punk music. It is a rather short book with detailed, claymation-like illustrations on each page, and it is written in rhyming stanzas so there is a poetic, easy-to-read flow to it. This book brings to light different varieties of punk music, as well as many of the artists and bands that brought punk music to life. This is a good book for children to learn about different types of music. In many music classrooms, there tends to be a hierarchy in terms of which type of music is "worth learning about", and with that many cultures and genres get put on the back burner because of the Western Classical standards classrooms set. But with books like this that are easy to read, it can help teach children about music other than Mozart and Beethoven.
