Mari Elias- Can You Hear It?

"Can You Hear It" is a book written by William Lach in association with the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This is a very interactive books that comes along with a CD and the objective is to play the CD with students and have them follow along with the book. There are many different musical excerpts to choose from and each has a page in the book of a piece of art and clues on the side asking the readers if they can find these musical clues in the pictures they see. To assist with this fun game, the book also has an introduction section that describes common instruments they will be hearing and giving a little bit of history behind it them. I am in love with the concept of this book and believe this would be a very fun and successful activity to include in the classroom, mostly with elementary school kids but also could be adapted to better suit middle school and high school kids as well. It gets the readers to actively listen to the music and be able to connect it to other things, such as visual representations.
