This book about percussion written by Wendy Lynch is one of a collection of books about different musical elements. This is broken into smaller sections, or chapters, each focusing on more specific elements of percussion instruments. It starts off the basics, defining what percussion instruments are and explaining how the noises are made, giving some examples so kids can relate what they've maybe seen before to new terminology. There are also sections where the author discusses how these instruments are found and used in other places around the world, naming famous musicians, and giving suggestions to activities the readers can do at home to learn more about percussion instruments. This book because it covers so many good topics and is very informative to the reader but still fairly easy to follow along with. I also love that it includes an activities section to get kids involved with music and be able to practice what they've learned so far about percussion instruments.
