Exploring Music: Strings by Alyn Shipton was designed for young readers with little to no knowledge of instruments and music. This book was written specifically to teach about string instruments, their history, how they’re made and how they’re played. Besides that, the book goes through several different kinds of string instruments and shows the reader how they all differ. This is an excellent book to give to a young reader if you are trying to teach them a little about music. Rather than start with a hands-on approach where a student has to pick up an instrument right away, you could begin with this book and begin an informative approach. They will be able to learn about the strings by either reading from the page or understanding concepts exemplified in the photographs.
