“Who Were The Beatles?” by Geoff Edgers is a biography on one of
the most popular musical groups of all time. Filled with both illustrations and
in-depth biographical detail, this book takes children on tour with John, Paul,
George, and Ringo through their individual lives and their career with The
Beatles. I think that this book can serve many great educational purposes. One
way is education through an already popular group. The Beatles still hold
relevancy today, and that connection can help children better grasp the lineage
of musical history. Second, the first half of the book goes into great detail
about the members’ early lives, which were not anything like the stellar lives they
led while in the Beatles. Some children reading about this can make connections
to their’s and the Beatles’ early lives, and makes the learning connection
stronger.
