The Song of Delphine
The book, The Song of Delphine is about a girl named Delphine who is an orphan working as a servant for a palace. Even though she is alone and sad her song she sings comforts her. When a new princess arrives, causes mayhem, and blames it all on Delphine, Delphine remembers to sing for her problems. When she does so she is met with giraffes whom befriend her. Later Delphine is about to be punished by the queen but is told to sing. After hearing her song the queen decides to make Delphine her singer. This book emphasizes the beauty and power music has in people in multiple ways. Delphine used her song to comfort herself in times of stress and sorrow and the Queen after hearing the song had her “heart feel at ease.” Students who read this story will be able to understand the power which music has which hopefully will ignite their passion for music.
