Anne Johnson - If You're Happy and You Know It

If You’re Happy and You Know It
Illustrated by Cyd Moore

This book uses the lyrics from the song “If You’re Happy and You Know It” word for word. It depicts a group of animals throwing a birthday party for their friend. It’s really cute, and there’s sheet music in the back of the book for someone to accompany on a piano. I think being able to read a song in book form can be really helpful, but I’m not sure that this specific book is ideal for a classroom setting. The physical dimensions of this edition are pretty small, and there is only one line per page. This makes it difficult to read/sing the lyrics with any sort of rhythm.
