This is a picture book adaptation of a well-known Spanish song, often sung on special occassions. It is the United Farm Workers of America anthem. The song melody is notated on the last pages of the book, though it might be helpful to listen to a full recording. As the title suggests, the book is illustrated with bright colors. Spanish verses are set alongside an English translation. This book presents an educational opportunity to learn about another language and culture, and to make students engage with reading and singing in a new way. If a class had native spanish and english speakers, a teacher could ask them to sing along in whatever language was most comfortable for them.
