Angela Kucharski- “Talkin’ Guitar, A story of Young Doc Watson”

“Talkin’ Guitar, A story of Young Doc Watson” is by Robbin Gourley. The plot of the book starts with us meeting Arthel Watson. His mom would sing to him every day and night. He always loves listening. He would hear chickens clucking and the rivers rushing and it was all music to him. He had great ears but he was blind. He would love to bang on pots and pans until one day his dad gave him a harmonica and a bang and he practiced. His dad promised that if he could learn a song by the end of the day he would buy him his own guitar. He did this so he got his guitar! He carried it everywhere and practiced anytime he could and learned to make his own music and have fun. This book first off can teach kids how to overcome adversity. This kid was blind and wanted to play music so bad that he learned anyway. Kids will always have obstacles when learning music but it is important that they learn to keep at it and they will learn eventually.
