Quinten Breach - Musical Instruments: Woodwind

Musical Instruments: Woodwind is a more simplistic approach to developing a young child's literacy. One concept the book does well is summarizing the topic into the following sections: Making Music Together, What are Woodwind Instruments?, Making a Noise, How the Sound is Made, Types of Woodwinds, Woodwind Family, Around the World, Famous Music and Musicians, and New Music. What makes this book so effective is exposing these younger individuals to music at such an early period in their life. Specifically, this book (written by Wendy Lynch), takes the idea of woodwind instruments and translates the information into popular music culture. This makes the topic more relatable for the students in possibly influencing them to become more involved with music as their life progresses. In conclusion, this novel is for students that are in literacy's beginning stages, specifically for those in their later toddler years before entering pre-K territory.
