Anders
Hanson – Cool Drawing (The art of creativity For Kids!)
This
book is a fun and informative for kids who love to make art. It is a great
introduction to fine art and fine art materials. Its organized with a table of
contents which includes material on tools of the trade, basic elements,
composition, techniques, a glossary, and an index. The book also includes sample
projects to try when learning to draw. Many of the projects, materials, and
vocabulary in this children’s book is what is already part of the early high
school art 1 curriculum. The way this book is written makes it easy for late
grammar school children and middle schoolers to read and understand well. I
like the idea of introducing these concepts early on in a child’s development of
art knowledge so the focus in high school doesn’t have to be so new. This is a
great tool to have in the art classrooms of schools all around the country. Students
can also take notes from this book and keep these examples in their
sketchbooks. This handy book could be the ultimate handout idea for intro
classes to art. I personally would have loved to have access to books such as this one when I was a child who was curious to learn more about art and its amazing possibilities. What better point to start at than drawing.
