Eddie Herschel Oates's "Making Music: 6 Instruments You Can Create" is a fun book for students of many ages. In the book there are instructions on how to make simple instruments from percussion to a trumpet, and all are fairly simple to construct. Oates first gives some information about the different instruments, how they sound, and how they play on a basic level which could be pretty helpful for young students who don't know too much about the different instrument families. The book covers lots of different types of music as well, so the students can be introduced to a wide variety of styles and sounds. I would definitely consider having this book in a future lesson plan because it's a fun creative activity that will teach the students in an exciting way while keeping them engaged.
