Mari Elias- Sticky Fingers Music
"Sticky Fingers Music", another fun activity book for young students to get creative allows the reader to make different instruments and important musical people to recreate different parts and members of an orchestra. Unlike other do-it-yourself books where they give suggestions to students on how to make fun new instruments, this book picks good, yet still simple, materials that a young student could find in their homes or in a classroom to recreate common instruments. While suggesting to the readers that they make their own guitars or flutes, the book also gives a brief history of the instrument and background about where it came from and how it's played now, which I find to be very cool. This book goes way more in depth than any book I have seen when it comes to making your own instruments. I would absolutely use this in the classroom as a fun project or even suggest my students try some of these examples at home with their families. I love that this book not only suggests to its readers that they make instruments but it also suggests that they make their own popstar, conductor, and singer, which I find is very innovative and just as important. The book ends with the members of an orchestra, how they are arranged, and their importance. There is also a glossary for musical and non-musical terms that students may not know, as well as resources, a list of books to read, and a list of musical places to visit, which I think is outstanding. This is one of my favorite books I have found so far.
